Power measurement test benches: how they work, different types

Power measurement test benches are essential tools in modern mechatronic workshops, to measure and optimize vehicle performance. These tools are the perfect way to accurately discover horsepower, torque, and engine efficiency, providing useful data for performance fine-tuning and improvement. Different types of test benches exist, but they can be cathegorized in two different kinds:
- Chassis dynamometers: this systems implies the vehicle's tires are placed on rollers in order to test the vehicle. The chassis dyno can be braked or not, depending on the presence of an eddy current brake.
- Hub dynamometer: the vehicle in coupled to dyno hubs after removing its wheels, therefore connecting wheel hubs directly to the dyno hubs.
